Gas Station Receipt Did Not Print

How to handle a missing paper receipt at the pump or checkout.

Safety check: Never send a photo showing your full card number or security code when requesting help.

Steps to try

1

Check the screen for a PRINT RECEIPT, NO RECEIPT, EMAIL RECEIPT, or SEND RECEIPT option. The wording varies by dispenser.

2

If the terminal indicates the receipt function is unavailable, save the transaction date, time, pump number, and amount.

3

Ask the station attendant for a duplicate receipt. The register may be able to reprint the transaction using its internal record.

4

If you paid with a card and need proof of payment, your bank’s transaction record can also help establish the date and amount.

5

If the transaction is missing, duplicated, or shows the wrong amount, contact the station first for merchant-side correction and then the card issuer if a payment dispute remains.

When to get help

Contact station staff when the dispenser or kiosk is not operating normally, when a transaction needs to be found or corrected, or when the issue involves station-owned equipment. Contact your bank or card issuer for authorization decisions and account-specific payment problems. For EV charging, use the operator support channel shown on the charger. For immediate danger, follow emergency instructions rather than troubleshooting the equipment yourself.

What to keep for a dispute

  • Station location and pump or charger number
  • Date and approximate time
  • Amount shown on the receipt or account
  • Any error message or transaction reference
  • Receipt or screenshot, with sensitive payment data covered
Privacy reminder: Never send full card numbers, PINs, bank passwords, security codes, or account credentials through a contact form or to an unsolicited helper.
